Lagos, Nigeria — Hybrid Motors Nigeria and DriveMe Mobility have announced a ₦25 billion strategic partnership to deploy 1,000 brand-new electric vehicles into Nigeria’s commercial ride-hailing market.
The partnership brings together Hybrid Motors Nigeria’s electric vehicle, charging and energy infrastructure with DriveMe Mobility’s driver development, mobility technology and fleet operations platform.
The initiative is designed to create a more sustainable pathway for Nigerian commercial drivers, many of whom currently operate ageing, fuel-heavy vehicles with rising running costs and limited prospects of ownership.
Through a drive-to-own model, qualified drivers will gain access to brand-new electric vehicles supported by structured training, intelligent credit assessment, transparent daily collections and reliable charging infrastructure.
The partnership is one of the most significant fleet electrification initiatives targeted at working drivers in West Africa.
“This partnership is about more than vehicles on the road,” said Damilola Odunlade-Akeju, Founder and CEO of DriveMe Mobility Limited. “Every driver we deploy is prepared not just to operate a vehicle, but to build a livelihood from it. We are creating sustainable economic opportunity at scale and Hybrid Motors is delivering the vehicle and energy infrastructure to make it real.”
Under the partnership, Hybrid Motors Nigeria will supply, maintain and power the electric vehicle fleet, while DriveMe Mobility will manage the full driver lifecycle. This includes driver acquisition, credit scoring, certification, daily operations, collections and performance monitoring.
For Hybrid Motors Nigeria, the partnership reflects a practical approach to electric mobility: vehicles, charging, maintenance and driver support must work together if commercial EV adoption is to succeed.
One of the biggest barriers to electric mobility in Nigeria has been infrastructure. Limited charging access and unreliable grid power have historically made large-scale commercial EV deployment difficult.
This partnership directly addresses that challenge.
Hybrid Motors Nigeria is deploying 8 mega charging stations to power the fleet. The stations will include 96 charging units and 192 charging guns, with the capacity to charge up to 2,300 vehicles daily.
The charging stations will be powered substantially by solar energy, reducing dependence on the national grid and helping to lower the reliability and cost barriers that have slowed EV adoption in the country.
The network is being designed with capacity beyond the initial 1,000-vehicle deployment, creating room for future expansion as more drivers and fleet operators transition to electric vehicles.
This infrastructure also forms part of Hybrid Motors Nigeria’s broader plan to deploy 110 mega charging stations across Nigeria over the next five years.
“We are not just putting cars on the road — we are building the vehicles, the energy, and the infrastructure that make clean commercial mobility work in Nigeria,” said Jubril Arogundade, Chief Executive Officer of Hybrid Motors Nigeria. “From manufacturing to charging to aftersales, every vehicle we deploy is backed by world-class technology and operational discipline. This is how you build something that lasts.”
Hybrid Motors Nigeria’s role will include vehicle supply, charging infrastructure, battery technology, maintenance support and aftersales services. For commercial drivers whose income depends on vehicle uptime, reliability and servicing are central to the success of the model.
DriveMe Mobility will bring its proprietary technology infrastructure to the partnership, including DriveMeScore and DriveMeCollect.
DriveMeScore is a mobility-specific credit and risk scoring engine designed to assess and qualify drivers for vehicle financing, particularly in markets where conventional credit data is limited.
DriveMeCollect is the company’s daily collections and remittance engine, built to support transparent revenue flows, driver accountability and real-time fleet performance monitoring.
Every participating driver will also complete DriveMe’s accredited Capacity Building Program, which prepares drivers with the skills, standards and financial readiness needed to operate successfully in a modern commercial mobility environment.
The 1,000-vehicle deployment is expected to create new income opportunities for professional drivers while supporting Nigeria’s transition to cleaner transport.
Both companies have also committed to a wider ambition of deploying 5,000 vehicles within the next three years.
Hybrid Motors Nigeria and DriveMe Mobility believe the partnership can serve as a blueprint for how vehicle supply, charging infrastructure, driver development and intelligent mobility technology can come together to deliver commercially viable electric mobility across Africa.
